The truth about delivery....
Well, as many of you might know me and the ATM became parents on Monday, August 13th at 3:26 pm. Our little princess, Dayvey, was born three weeks ahead of schedule. In a way, that's a good thing, because she's 20 inches long and weighs in at 7lbs 4 oz. Can you imagine how much she would've weighed if she stayed in utero for the full three weeks? OMG...let's not imagine.
Okay, so I'm sure many of you want to know all about the magic. And since I love to share, I will. Despite what you might see on TLC or Discovery Health delivery, for me, anyway, wasn't like it's shown on tv. In fact, when my water broke around 6:30 am...me and the ATM were both extremely calm. We weren't frantic running around the room, screaming...nor did the ATM jump in his ride and drive off toward the wild blue yonder to only learn that he'd left the mommy to be standing in the driveway.
Our morning was quite calm. My water broke...I said Uh Oh...the ATM came to my rescue and we both marveled at all of the fluid running down my leg. We immediately started alerting the media...(ie our families), we cleaned up my mess, prepared Korver for the day, and then at the advice of Snoozie and Charlie Bear we lined our car with towels and garbage bags and we were off. During the entire ride, we called and text messaged people and got advice from other mommy's who had been there and done that....Kare Bear and TBarber....and then just chatted with people for distraction. TG for my ladies in Ft. Lauderdale and Aunt Dani.
We got to the hospital, I got my epidural and got to pushing and before we knew it...we became parents. We were excited, scared, and totally, completely in love with our new baby. Despite what I prepared myself for....there was no screaming, yelling, or crying. Although, when the pushing got down and dirty...I did ask the ATM for a mommy mobile and he smiled and prodded me to continue to push. What do you think that means? Do you think there be a signing of a lease in the near future?
Anyway, the most traumatic part of my hospital experience was the hospital food. Thankfully Riddle is right across from a mall. All I know is, meatloaf should never be offered as an entree...and how can a bagel taste so horrible???
The staff at Riddle was absolutely amazing!!! And during times when one wants to be modest or is too embarassed, the wonderful nursing staff at Riddle treaded with caution and jokes and gave me and my baby the best medical care ever.
So sorry if you wanted gory details...as I have none...I was very fortunate....
And now...I'm thrilled to present our little bundle of joy....
