A Night Of Utter and Complete Despair….
Hey there my little buttercups! I apologize for the delay in the post, it's just that it was a late night in Suga Land. Why you might ask? Well as you may or may not remember I still had a huge amount of prep work to do last night (baking another cake and frosting the cakes I did have, plus working with more fondant decorations) and not enough time to do it in. And if that's not enough DOG the Bounty Hunter was on last night and I got sucked right into that reality black hole and I didn't want to come out. I don't know what it is about that show, but it just pulls my attention away from all that is good in the Suga World.
After Dog and his crew apprehended a few bad guys, I got back down to business and started icing the cakes. Much to my chagrin, it was not going well. I guess I was so hyped up from the show that I was a little too forceful with my icing technique. Cakes began to crumble and icing could be found everywhere. I believe there was actually more cake on my apron, then there was on the whole cake. While this was sending me into a panic wondering how on earth was I going to pull of this cake, Korver the wonder dog enjoyed the experience immensely and took to cleaning every surface covered with wayward crumbs and displaced icing. After a few cleansing breaths I was able to remind myself that Rome was not built in a day and this cake iced as it was in complete disrepair. On the verge of tears, I grabbed the phone and began to dial the marvelous and wonderful cake goddess LS - my Wilton Instructor. She had told me as well as my classmates countless times, whenever you're in a fix - just pick up the phone and call me and that I did. Until I noticed the clock on the wall stated one hour from midnight and I'm almost sure that unless my name was Mr. Sandman she would not be in the least bit happy to hear from me.
Now weeping as my husband just shakes his head and does his best to ignore me, which can be quite difficult as I am a one woman pity party show at this time, I throw in the towel and call it a night. It is then when I see the final score of the Dallas/Phoenix game that I realize that even Dirk has his a** kicked too, okay, yes Dallas losing to Phoenix by 20 points has nothing to do with my current state of affairs…but didn't I tell you this is my forum and if I choose to talk about Dirk you must listen. Anyway, as I looked over at my cakes once more it then became apparent…when all else fails and your cake looks like hell…when in doubt cover it with fondant. Problem solved - for now anyway.
Go Dallas!!!

And so it begins...
Well my little cupcakes it's go time. That's right, it's shower cake time! While I have to admit, I have been thoroughly dreading this process, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Okay I'm lying, last night I didn't get a wink of sleep and my heart repeatedly attempted to leap from my chest. Then again this reaction could've been due to knowing I had to return to my current place of employment today or that frappacino I had late in the day.
Anyway, yesterday I baked my cakes and starting working on my fondant art that will detail the cake. So I'm taking baby steps in the process. Tonight, I will frost my cakes and let them set up. I know this isn't really earth shattering information, but work with me. I've told you time and time again how difficult it can be to be the life of the party all of the time. I'll post pictures when they become suitable and indicative of my talent. Until then my honey nut Cheerios....

I LOVE GERMAN WHITE CHOCOLATE....
I'm sure you're wondering if there is such a thing and there is and his name is Dirk Nowitzki. What an amazing player! And I positively, am crazy in love for his height and skills on the court! Although I'm saddened they fell to Steve Nash (can someone please cut his hair?) and the Suns last night! Yes, I know this has nothing to do with cake...but I had to declare my love for Dirk and his talent somewhere and this is my forum.
Now we return to your regularly scheduled program....
Hola, my sweet tarts! Did you miss me? Of course you did. Well my strawberry flavored pop tarts, your suga goddess has been quite the busy baker this past week. Between watching the Dallas Mavericks, foaming at the mouth for AI, celebrating my 28th birthday (yes, gasp), and preparing to retire from my current trade that just pays the bills - I've barely had a moment to muse about CAKE!
But I did take a moment last night to discover the joys of FONDANT. Yes, I know what you're saying...fondant - oh it tastes horrible, oh it's so hard to work with, or oh it's expensive. And while you're right about it tasting horrible and it's price - you're completely wrong with how difficult it is to work with. All one needs to find the joys of fondant is patience and time. Okay? Trust me. That's the same mantra I had to employ many eons ago after my first sexual experience.
Ha, I woke you up there did I?
Dearies, seriously I highly recommend you give fondant a try. And once you see pictures of my latest cake you'll agree.
Oh my pop tarts, I apologize for my lack of wit and humor today but I'm tres exhausted, truly I am. It's hard work being fabulous, talented, and funny...you must understand that. Really, you must. I must go now and wrap up this blog before I bore you any longer...
Anyway, enjoy your holiday weekend and I pledge to return to you next week refreshed and absolutely fabulous. I also promise to provide you with the much deserved drama you've been waiting for because it's time to start working on the baby shower cake.

Hola my sweet darlings, it's been awhile since my last post as my suga makin' drama has been kept to a hum. I'm so sorry about that, it's just not much is going on. Personally, life has been kicking into high gear - but cake decorating is slow.
Oh well, I promise to return to you full of suga and buttercream next Thursday when I debut my first adventure into the land of fondant. It should be tres interesting.
Until then my darlings stay sweet!

Sweets for My Sweets...
Hola suga babies! Your fav sugar matriach has been quite the busy bee and she has the pictures to prove it. Don't you just love evidence as long as it's not incriminating. Anyway, off the cake subject for a mere moment. I just wanted to share with all of my lovely followers that I headed home to the land of the crab and 10 oz Bud cans this past weekend and it was just marvelous.
Ughh for all of you who don't know the beauty of a true Eastern Shore crabcake and a Budweiser beer -you have no idea what you're missing. I may adore the finer things in life, but sometimes finer just can't beat a 10 oz Bud. Oh dear god, I've lost my mind musing about cheap beer and absolutely nothing else. That's what happens when I go back home, my redneck tendencies seem to just burst from my pores.
Anyway, let me turn your attention back to what's important (please excuse the diatribe from above) CAKE...
I'm including a few pictures of what's been keeping me busy. The first couple of pictures are of the Wilton Course 2 finale cake - the basketweave cake. If I ever have to see royal icing flowers ever again, I intend on suffocating myself with a decorating bag. See the technique of creating royal icing to the perfect consistency isn't difficult, it's just down right depressing when you don't have a Kitchen Aid mixer. My little mixer that couldn't nearly died under the pressure, so if you don't have a Kitchen Aid mixer, just don't do it. Save yourself the drama and just create the Wilton rose using good old buttercream.
PICTURES TO COME, SOMETHING'S UP WITH THE SERVER
What else, what else? Yes, people, I cannot stress the importance of a crumb coat. I didn't have the time nor the patience this weekend to do one and look what I did to my cute little clown cake! There are visible crumbs and holes everywhere! The horror - the embarrassment. As a graduate of Wilton Course 2, I should've know better!!! It was my good friend in my head Alannis Morrisette who said you live, you learn.
This cake was for my darling husbands grandmother. She absolutely loved it! And the rest of the extended fam enjoyed it too. I believe it was my sugary sweet brother in law, Dustbunny whom I'm crazy in love with who said this cake is good! It's soo sweet...so sweet my teeth ache.
Mission Accomplished!
Until we meet again my suga babies!
Stay sticky sweet!

Suga Is Sweet
Well my purple peeps, I apologize for the delay in the basket weave cake I had promised to showcase to you today. Your fearless leader is still in a losing battle with sleep deprivation after her quick jaunt to the west coast earlier in the week.
Hence her lack of motivation to upload anything last night. The only motivation I had was to continue my favorite past time of getting on my husband's nerves into the wee hours of the morning. Yep, at midnight east coast time I was just getting my second wind so I settled into QVC along with my hubby's credit card and did some early birthday shopping. Don't worry my purple peeps, my purchase was food related. But still that's no excuse for lack of cake discussion or pictorials.
So I promise to make it up to you. How you might wonder? On Monday, I pledge to provide you with more sparkling dialogue and two cake pictures. I have a cake project I must complete for a Sunday showing. It will be quite basic as my skills are still tres limited, but I gotta use what my mama gave me. You'll see what I mean on Monday.
All right my dahling purple peeps, I have held your attention for far too long. You go on now and have a sugary sweet day and don't forget to pick up the phone this weekend and call your mama. You know she gave up the ability to wear a size two just for you.
Chocolate Kisses to all!
Yours in flava, suga, and fondant,
Sweet Honey Child

Spin Spin Suga....
Well my dears, your fav suga dahling is back and she's got photos to share. For all the world to see, here are my tres amateur cakes, the first is my first eva cake created in Wilton Class 1. This was a hit with the co-workers as they devoured it faster than Brit's last conception (I had to throw that in there).
Let me pull this train back on track, okay yes, the cakes. So like I was saying the cake with the peachy flowers was a class cake. The second cake is bachelorette concoction I threw together for one of the loves of my life, my dear sugary sweet confection SDO. We threw her a wild cowboy bachlorette party in the city that never sleeps. My offering to the debauchery was this lovely cake, which we dove into when the limo kicked us out around 4 am. And yes, those are what you think they are on the top of the cake.
BTW, please ignore the quality of the pictures...I froze these memories in time with the help of my camera phone.
Enjoy my little sugas!
Yours truly,
Your Sweet Honey Child
Well my dears and loyal cake eating public at the beckoning of my suga sistah in crime MBM, the time has come for me to enter into the world of blogging. But for a limited time only.
That's right, so play close attention. What people? I can only allow you some of my flava but for so long - then I'll have to charge. And just ask DAG not many can afford the likes of me.
Beginning this week until June 7th,2006 I will be detailing my every adventure in cake-dom…leading up to my grand finale - my sister's baby shower cake. I know what you're saying, how on earth did you get yourself into such a predicament? Well I didn't…I was volunteered. Yes, I know…details, details, details…but now is just not the time for me to enlighten you on the trivial personality defects in my so-called-life. Besides, I need an entirely different blog and a made for tv movie for my SHC True Easton, Maryland story. To whet your whistle, tantalize your palette, and force your stomach into a grumble I'll be posting pictures of my tres amateur work after my first few Wilton classes (coming soon).
So folks, I behoove you to stay tuned and watch with bated breath as this stinkin' hot mess unfolds…or shall I say, As the Cake Turns.
